The name is based on the Sanskrit words, “Him” means snow and “alaya” means abode.
In Nepal, there are 263 Himalayan peaks open for climbing. Their altitudes range from 6,500 meters to Mount Everest at 8848 meters. All are available for foreigner or joint expeditions. Likewise, the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) offers 18+ 15 = 33 Himalayan peaks for alpine trekking. The Nepal Himalayas has attracted many climbing lovers – adventurers, philosophers and researchers.
